Travis Scott is a hip-hop artist from Houston, Texas. His two studio albums, Rodeo and Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, made it to the number one spot on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums and are both RIAA certified-Gold albums. After finishing up on tour with Kendrick Lamar this summer, Travis Scott will be returning to Grand Rapids to perform at Breakaway Music Festival.

Zedd is a German electronic music artist who has seen success worldwide from his original productions and star-studded collaborations. In 2014, he won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for his song, ‘Clarity’, featuring Foxes. It’s one of three Zedd productions to be RIAA certified-Platinum, along with ‘Stay the Night’, featuring Hayley Williams and ‘I Want You to Know’, featuring Selena Gomez. Zedd will be playing the Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival the week before he makes the trip to Grand Rapids for Breakaway Music Festival.

Jon Bellion is a singer/songwriter whose music has influences from elements of hip-hop and pop music. His first studio album, The Human Condition, was released back in 2016 and made it all the way to number five on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums. He also has a feature on fellow headliner Zedd’s song ‘Beautiful Now’. The artist will be making an appearance at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival later this summer, but you can catch him performing at this year’s Breakaway Music Festival in Grand Rapids on Saturday, August 26th.

The festival will be held in Belknap Park, a city-owned property that is also utilized by the baseball and softball teams of Grand Rapids Community College. Spanning over 20 acres, guests should have more than enough room for raging or relaxing!

At the moment, attendees have the option of purchasing either a 2-Day GA ticket for $60 (+ fees) or 2-Day VIP ticket for $110 (+ fees). Included in the VIP ticket is express entrance, and access to special viewing sections, private bathrooms and bars.

More About the Festival

Based out of Lansing, MiEntertainment Group was part of the conceptual creation of Common Ground Music Festival back in 2010. According to their website, their team has over 40 years of combined experience in the live events industry.

Prime Social Group is a concert promotions company out of Ohio that concentrates on college markets all across the country. Some of the venues PSG works closely with are Wayside Central in Mount Pleasant, Michigan and The Canopy Club in Urbana, Illinois. With the festival coinciding with welcome week at GVSU, expect a lot of Lakers to use this opportunity to show their friends what Grand Rapids is all about.

Last year, Breakaway Music Festival was held in Columbus, Ohio and featured performances from Chance the Rapper and Dillon Francis, two artists who have been killing it in 2017. The festival will move locations in Columbus this year to MAPFRE Stadium, while also expanding to Belknap Park in Grand Rapids. Expect more artists to be announced in the future for both the Columbus and Grand Rapids festival.
