UpNorth Music & Arts Festival returns to Twisted Trails Off Road Park in Copemish, Michigan for a second year looking to further its progress made during last year’s debut. With one year under their belt, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2017!
Music
Over 100 artists will be joining headliners Rezz, Louis the Child, G Jones and Big Wild from August 18th to 20th. Artists we are looking forward to seeing for the first time are Ganz, Point Point, Quix, Robotaki and Ye., just to name a few.
It’s also worth noting that the side project between Freddy Todd and Space Jesus called Guccimen are on the lineup. Last year the two released their self-titled EP to fans showcasing the sound and style the two bring to the table when working together.
UpNorth is their only scheduled festival performance of the summer, making Guccimen’s performance on Sunday one of the can’t miss shows for the weekend!

Art
UpNorth not only carefully curates the music, but it also pays attention to the aesthetic of the experience too. The festival last year collaborated with dozens of different artists to curate a space for live art installations and galleries for guests to interact with. Expect to see the festival pay similar attention to detail when curating this year’s exhibit.

Nature
Combining music with the cosmos is how UpNorth plans to create a one of a kind experience. The forested lands of Northern Michigan are prime for a camping music festival too. Pure Michigan calls the Huron-Manistee National Forest one of the top ten best places to camp in the state. Even though UpNorth is held outside of the national forest, the surrounding areas should offer similar camping conditions.

The festival falls under a New Moon this year. When the side of the moon that reflects sunlight is facing away from us, it creates the illusion of the moon “disappearing” in the night sky and gives guests an even greater view of the stars over the weekend.
A New Moon can be interpreted as a “symbolic portal for new beginnings.” The beginning of the lunar cycle is thought of as the optimal time for envisioning what you’d like to “create, develop, cultivate, and make manifest” in the future. How you go about the process isn’t important. Instead, it’s the commitment to your goal and open-mindedness to receiving support along the way that matters most. Surrounding yourself with friends, music and the outdoors sounds like a great way to recharge and refocus.

Guests can purchase a GA three-day pass for $165 (+ fees), which includes access to GA camping. If you wish to camp next to your car though, you must purchase a vehicle pass for $50 (+ fees). RV’s are permitted, but require an additional ticket.
