After a successful debut in Michigan last year, Breakaway Music Festival is returning to Grand Rapids this summer on Friday and Saturday, August 24th and 25th, featuring headliners Odesza (Friday) and Khalid (Saturday). Other artists we’re thrilled to see on this year’s lineup are Jaden Smith (yes, Will Smith’s son), Flosstradamus, and Dombresky.
Fans of local music, consider yourselves blessed. Rounding out the rest of the mainstage artists this year are locals COOKN, Super Future, Flats Stanlie, and EZE B2B Saylin. We’re also excited to see the Silent Disco return, which will feature many more Michigan DJs throughout the weekend. Click here to view the full lineup for the Silent Disco.
What to Expect
The festival is being held in Belknap Park again this year, just north of downtown Grand Rapids. Prior to last year’s festival, the location had never been utilized for a music festival before, so many people were curious to see how the festival would look inside the park.
We really enjoyed the festival’s use of space last year. With the Silent Disco perched above the park, attendees could enjoy music at the top and bottom of the hill, while the hill itself provided excellent seating for those looking to sit back and chill. We’re excited to see what changes Breakaway will implement to improve upon last year’s festival.
Next week, Breakaway Music Festival will be releasing the second phase of their Grand Rapids lineup. Once phase 2 is announced, Mother Of All Bass will be launching a giveaway for (2) single-day passes to either day of the festival!
If you don’t consider yourself to be the lucky type, tickets for both days are still available on the festival’s website.
